Song Illustration – I’m Only Joking (Kongos)

I'm Only Joking - acrylic on acrylic paper (A3). Actually, I'm properly serious. This awesome song is the first in my series of lyric paintings for tracks I absolutely love. On the album 'Lunatic', this is a powerhouse performance from Kongos with an addictive drumline underlining sublime musicality and iconic soaring vocals. And some cool lyrics.

What’s new, Pussycat?

Tiger Acrylic on canvas board, 50.5cm x 40cm. Painted for art group monthly challenge on theme of 'Wildlife' but a good excuse to make a point at the same time. I also created an image of a dragonfly (see in Miscellaneous) using watercolour, fine-liner and crayon which was fun. The latest addition in the watercolours section is The Singing Cherry Pie. York Painting – There and Back Again

I think this might be finished...! I could go on prodding it with bits of paint forever, but sometimes you just need to step away and call it done. Some of these places and features have changed over the years since I took the photos which I used as reference for this painting, but this is York how it was, and still is in most cases. Seven Magnificent Guitarists

Fineliner on watercolour paper. Good to look at but even more awesome to listen to. Hopefully these guys need no introduction, but for the record, Brian May (Queen), Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Slash (Guns n Roses), Angus Young (AC/DC), Dylan Kongos (Kongos) and Rob Trujillo (Metallica). Each one a total genius and if you don't want to pay £100 for the picture, at least listen to this lot - I will be very happy to recommend excellent tracks so feel free to use ...

The Magnificent Seven

A fine collection of my favourite bad guys, but you have to admit there's something a bit lovable about a couple of them... Fineliner on watercolour paper and a delight to draw. This is really the sort of stuff I love doing. Would consider selling for £50 and happy to be commissioned on this type of thing.

Still Life – Somerset

Acrylic on canvas board, 35.6cm x 25.4cm. I don't normally paint still life pictures but this was for a painting challenge set by our art group on the theme of 'Somerset'. A landscape was a bit obvious, so this was an option which meant I could explore different textures in a style I wouldn't normally choose.
