The beech tree
This is a beech tree because I say it is and because I have changed the form and perspective by interpreting the esoteric qualities of the existential components into a contemporary manifestation of symbiotic juxtaposition between the natural world and the metaphysical accidents of the mind. It will be a beech tree until I decide it isn’t, when it will then return to being a plate of baked beans.

Yep, I admit I copied this from the excellent Fighting Fantasy adventure book, House of Hell, when I was about 13. I loved those books and had most of them when I was a teenager (a few decades on I've still got my absolute faves and yes, I still do them occasionally, but I couldn't see the point in growing up, it sounds boring).
