Acrylic Pour 2

Hmm, tricky. It's a bit like a black hole. This one was quite good until I stuck my finger in it before it was completely dry. There is now a new paiting over the top of it. Maybe this one is really called 'The Osmosis of Time' or 'Love Triangle with Potato'. Apparently it's subjective. If Jackson Pollock can produce a canvas of congealed paint-encrusted coins and cigarette butts and call it 'Full Fathom Five', I can call this what I like. Also, there's a weird little ghost in it -...

Acrylic Flow with Silicon 2

A catchy title for this piece, methinks. Or should it actually be 'The Conception of Concept'? (GASP) Anyway, as with the others in this series, enjoy the lovely colours and shapes and please feel free to submit your own titles coz I'm out of my field, here. Look out for the upcoming post on acrylic flow and please wander around the rest of the website.

Acrylic Flow with Silicon

What is all this about? Please see the blurb under 'Acrylic Pour 1' as well as the News post 'Latest Stuff' from today and the follow-up post on acrylic flow which will be, er.. following. At some point. And continuing our theme of pretentious titles for abstract pieces, this shall also be called 'Transient Dimensions with Fish'. Alternative titles most welcome...

Acrylic Pour 1

Ok, let's have some fun. I'm not a massive fan of abstract art generally but I'm coming round to it the more I see. I appreciate how beautiful some abstract art looks and that it means different things to different people, however, I still struggle with a lot of it and think it can sometimes take itself too seriously. And when I say 'it', I mean the creators. I will shortly be putting up a post in News about my experience with acrylic flow so far but I am also posting the individual res...

I've also been trying out lots of new styles including acrylic flow. I will be doing a separate post about that with tips for anyone who wants to have a go at this without spending a lot of money, When I'm not pouring paint all over the place - including a depressing acciden...

Rob Trujillo

Rob Trujillo A3, acrylic on acrylic paper. Such a great photo - hope I did it justice. I love the lighting in this picture and wanted to see if I could capture the effect. I love how the form of his body is picked out in electric blue and gold, and he's an awesome guy! Stick on some Metallica and have a browse through my website.

Macarons

Macarons - Acrylic on acrylic paper Oh, how I loved painting this! It's right up my street. The only downside was that I was copying someone else's photo, not mine. (Which obviously means they got to eat them, and I firmly condone eating your subject matter providing it's food of course, and not famous landmarks, or shoes. Etcetera. Anyway...) This was an excellent challenge posted on Instagram which I could not refuse seeing as sweet stuff is probably my favourite subject to pain...

Blood Moon

Blood Moon over Glastonbury Tor. A3, ink, watercolour and pencil crayon. Painted for local art group challenge on subject of 'Moonlight'. Alas, I have not actually seen this particular sight but I did see a blood moon once, while I was driving through town; it was a bit of a shock and I very nearly drove into some traffic lights. Awe-inspiring.

Fan-art, Flamenco, Felines and Fairy-tales

Been very busy working on lots of projects which I've been posting on Instagram (@mellyhendy_art) but have finally now updated this website. Two more lyrics paintings have been completed - check out the Acrylics section to see the latest ones. I am considering an idea for the next one but it will be a challenge so might be a while before it appears. A couple more months have passed since I last updated this and I am still doing the monthly painting challenges set by my local art grou...
