Acrylic Flow – Funnel Pour

When I first started working with acrylics, I read that you will get through more white than any other colour. 'Surely not!' I thought in my completely inexperienced ignorance. Having got through enough white paint in the last few years to cover the Moon, I recently splashed out on five tubes to top up my ailing collection of whites and having got through all of them in a matter of weeks, my working area is annoyingly lined with tubes of white paint standing upside-down or at silly angles...

In The Music

In The Music (KONGOS) Pencil illustration for this brilliant song which wonderfully showcases the accordion, although I really love the drumming on this track - just amazing! It's been ages since I got my pencils out and this was a very enjoyable reason to do so again. The emoji faces and various other images are inspired by the lyrics and you can test your eyesight and knowledge of other awesome KONGOS songs by studying the stonework on the ruins.

Come With Me Now

Coz I'm on a mission to get stuff finished. And started. But mainly finished. I think there are currently fifteen paintings on my list to do and that doesn't include a growing list of illustrations for a story entirely written as poetry which I've been working on (on and off) since I was sixteen, so it's only taken me 573 years to not finish it. Certainly feels like it. There are so many projects I want to work on and I keep getting distracted by things like ad hoc art challenges, a...

Go With The Flow

A Basic Guide to doing cheap acrylic flow Refusing to be thwarted by acrylic flow, I decided to do my own thing and not worry about trying to replicate what more experienced people have achieved.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m in awe of the amazing pictures that have been created by those who know what they’re doing and have all the right products, but I didn’t want to spend a lot on paints and flow mediums and the equipment with which to create flow paintings, but that’s coz I’m a bit of a ti...

The Aleph

Ha - excellent title for this picture! A friend recommended a book to me ages ago (like, in about 1995) which contained this short story. Made a huge impact on me. I stared at this picture for a couple of minutes and decided that title was perfect, so there you have it. The story is by Jorge Luis Borges. Check it out.

Acrylic Flow with Silicon 3

Or, as I suspect this is really entitled, 'The Symposium of Beasts Debating the Manifestation of Greed.' (You might need to read the blurb under 'Acrylic Pour 1'.) I love how the paint basically separated into blue and red halves. It is interesting to watch how the paint flows. You can exercise an element of control over it but a lot of it is out of your hands which I like. Whole new experience!
